Samaria Gorge
During your stay at Kalamaki Mare an excursion to the spectacular Samaria Gorge, which is part of the White Mountains’ National Park, the only national park in Crete, would be a great experience.
The Samaria Gorge is the longest in Europe (total length 16km), and one of the most impressive gorges in Greece. Visit the gorge to enjoy its laid-back atmosphere, go for a hike and follow the footpaths leading to Pervolákia and Timios Stavros beaches!

Falassarna Beach, Fragokastello Beach, Chrissi Akti Beach and Seitan Limania Beach are close to Chania and worth a visit. Other must visit beaches during your holidays in Chania would be the spectacular Balos Beach, a scenic white sand beach that will take your breath away with its emerald waters and Elafonissi beach, an island paradise that awaits you to enjoy its fantastic white-sand and turquoise waters. The beautiful beach of Balos is approx. 40km from Kalamaki Mare and Elafonissi Beach is approx. 70km from Chania.
The tombs of Venizelos’
On the eastern outskirts of Chania, at the beginning of Akrotiri and on the road to Kounoupidiana, are located the graves of Venizelos’, important sites of the area. Next to the historic church of Prophet Elias rests the Greek politician and seven times Prime Minister of Greece Eleftherios Venizelos and his son Sophocles Venizelos, who also served as prime minister of Greece 1943 until 1952.
The whole place, which is a lovely park, is idyllic with pine trees and panoramic views to the majestic city of Chania, offering laid-back atmosphere.
